Shanahan says he sympathises with Philip Lowe’s “position and predicament” as the RBA governor’s tenure is up for debate. “I sympathise with Phil Lowe’s position and predicament – it’s not a popularity contest – when it comes to renewing his tenure I think people have a right to say perhaps that tenure shouldn’t be renewed,” Mr Shanahan told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
